Ive got a 1988 mazda b2200. It has the pacesetter header and i cut the stock air cleaner housing to just have a base and a lid to leave the element fully open. now, its getting chillier at night, and it starts but wont stay running in the morning unless you hold it at about 1700 rpm to get warmed up. since i got rid of the heated air valve from the exhaust, which i think is the problem, what can i do? Thanks

The stock carb has an electric choke on the side, with a one wire lead to the alternator. Did u cut that off? If so, u screwed the pooch cause thats all the cold weather gear u got on these trucks. If u didnt,be sure the choke is hooked up.Proceedure for starting these trucks in cold weather is 1. turn switch on and listen for solenoid to click,2. depress accel pedal down 1/2 way to activate choke,3. start truck. It will fast idle up to 1500 rpm or so, then stage down as it warms up to correct idle speed of 750-800 rpm.bj
