Does anyone know if a 2600 valve cover is taller than a 2200? My oversize cam is making my shit hit the stock valve cover... I grinded the top-inside of the cover down when i built the motor and it helped a little, but it's still hitting... I don't want to grind it too thin, and i don't want to weld up a spacer for it.

Any advice?

maybe stack another valve cover gasket on it, im sure it'll blow it out but its worth a shot. wheere you get that cam and who made it.

Is where i got mine.
Cam Lift is .550 in. and Cam Duration is 300 Degrees from what i'm told... idk much about it.
stock lift is .239 in. and Duration is 250 Degrees though...

it's the "stage 3 cam" or some B.S. like that hahaha i'm just going off what he said.

But with that and the Eagle Crank, Carillo Rods, J.E. Pistons, bored 11 to 1 and Weber 38/38 Carb... so on and so on... "GUY" says it's 2394 cc, redlines at 7500 rpm and has 119.0 hp @ 5500 rpm...

Who knows though, i need to take it in for a Dyno run. The truck is the fastest out of the 3 i've owned, it's seriously a LOT of fun.

No the 2600 valve cover is different.

stock 2600i is rated at 120 hp. if u have installed a hi-lift cam,a lobe is hitting the valve cover. There is a smog cover inside the stock valve cover that can be removed to give u a little more clearance.bj

are your valve springs the correct poundage?
david-kelly   +1y
I'm not sure of the poundage... I grinded that smog sheild or whatever it is and it still ticked. So then i started the truck with no valve cover, using a big cardboard box so my oil didn't leak all over and it STILL ticked.

So i'm going to replace the lifters, and probably the valves and springs.
Unless you think there is something else i can do???

well u can try this if it is lifter tic and not clearance. Get a bottle of SEAFOAM cleaner. Change the oil and put 1/2 bottle of SEAFOAM in the crankcase,i/4 of the bottle in the tank.Fill the truck up and run it until time for a gas fill up.Change the oil again, put the 1/4 can of SEAFOAM in the crankcase and run it. If anything can clear up a lifter tic without tearing an engine down, that process can.bj
