1st off i'm new to the forum so hello ya'll. I just picked a rust free 92' 2600i auto for the low low price of FREE! Traded some parts for an s10 I had layin around. This is not my first mazdawg but both my others where b2200. This new one has a locked up motor (supposedly , haven't tried marvel oil yet) What I need to know is if I can use a short block from another series or do I need to find one from another 2600i. If I can't find another block and need to rebuild this one is there anything I should watch out for or anything to build her up. I'm open to all suggestions and info, i.e. sites for parts, heckling, things that transfer from other vehicles or just a good nudge in the right direction.

thanks ya'll

2600 motor is mistubishi i think. so no mazda parts should swap between them. all body parts and anything else will, nothing with the engine and trans will tho.

I honestly don't even know what motor is in it. I do know it is a 92' b2600i, so I guess it has a 2.6L in it ? If I'm wrong please correct me. Like I said my other two mazdawgs where b2200's and realy didn't get into motor mods, just slammed them.

found this on mazdaforum.... its pretty much the exact opposite of what you asked and this is the answer that was given.. hope this helps a little

question:

guy wanted to know if a 2600i engine would bolt into his carbed b2200

answer:

The B2600i (G6 engine) has only one thing in common with the F2. It uses the same distributor as the fuel injected B2200. It would be possible to bolt one in with some engine mount modifications. You would also need the starter, flywheel, and bell housing. To mount it to your current transmission you would have to transfer the B2600i bell housing onto you're B2200 tranny. If you want the B2600i tranny as well you would have to fabricate a rear transmission mount and modify a driveshaft. The B2600i uses a beefier transmission and is not as easy to interchange as other mazda transmissions.

.. have you ever looked at your power steering pump or stock alt? they all have mitsu logo stamped on them as well as the stock carb and a few other parts, my b2200 has mitsu stamped all over parts

ok I got it figured out to this point. A b2600i is a 2.6, I can only use a 2.6 block, most of ya'll hate 2600i's, it is a pain in the azz to find parts for these things.

Now what I still need to know- where can I find a rebuild kit for this motor, what side is the mitsu stuff on the block and what side is the mazda stuff on (I read that they're on opposite sides of the block and I would like to know which I have)
