B2600I idling at 1500rpm

My truck just started acting up and starts to idle at 1500 even after it warms up, Anyone have any idea
what it could be?
Its does it with the a/c on or off, but sometimes it will idle just fine.

did you check your coolant level? the idle air control valve is controlled my coolant temp and if there isnt coolant running through it then it will think your over heating and idle higher. thats whats happening with my truck. my idle air control valve doesnt flow any coolant and my truck will idle at 1500 rpm all day. i would make sure your engine is actually flowing coolant and make sure there arent any clogs any where. that would be the simplest thing to check.

After that, check for vacuum leaks.

its fuel injected so you dont really have to worry about vacuum lines. i'm almost positive that its the idle air control valve.

That may very well be the case, but vacuum leaks aren't always at the lines.
So if the problem isn't solved after looking at the IAC, check for vacuum leaks.

I think you mIght be right, I have a coolant leak and have to be adding water every couple of days, The radiator has a leak and i have to order a new one soon.
That has to be the problem then. Or the IAC valve is bad.

i changed the radiator yesterday but its still idling at 1500-2000. I disconnected the idle control valve
and the truck idles fine. so i guess i need a Idle control valve now. Off to the junk yards i go to look for one.
Have you seen the price of one these valves new? CRAZY!!!!

i looked it up and with my discount at work i can get a brand new one shipped out here from the BWD warehouse for $300. thats the cheapest i could find.
