Ok so I thought my alternator went out but after thinking about it 4 a while i have a question. I have a '87 b2000 and coming off the alt. is i think 2 plug ins (could be wrong) and one bigger black wire. Ok well when i got this truck there is one plug that is not plugged into anything and the black wire has the end stripped like a battery wire. I am assuming the black wire hooks to the battery cable to charge the battery and i have no idea where the plug plugs into. I can post pics if u like but i was wondering if maybe you guys could take some pics of these plugs/wires where they are supposed to plug into or maybe just tell me before i buy an alt. that would be very helpful! Thanks

the starter is plugged in? the big wire needs a loop connector and hooked to the stud on the alt. the larger plug into (if you were looking at the back side) 3 o'clock, the smaller at 6 o'clock

ok..... when i got this truck i could not get the starter to work it had one big wire hooked to the stud on the starter and the little green wire coming off of it was not plugged into anything. i searched all over for a week trying to find the plug that the green wire went to and never could. so then i ended up putting a push start on it. there looks like there is another wire with a wire end on it that i assume might go on the stud on the starter? the other end of that black wire is attatched to the stud on the alt. i think but are you saying the end stripped is supposed to go to the starter also? and the 2 plugs plug in on the alt.?

no, i was asking because that harness shouldn't be long enough to pull out like that if it was hooked up correctly.... i will do my best to get you some pictures of my harness and how its hooked up in about an hour from now when i can get to my truck.... looks like the previous owner really screwed that thing up.... did it have a motor swap or what?
