well i figure since its that time that everyone can use some extra cash, its that time i should go searching for a new engine.. i was given a turbo probe over the summer but i sold it due to the fact i dont have the skills to make that swap happen... but i wanted to know, should i just drop the $500 on a stock Japanese motor with a guaranteed 60k miles or should i search for a swap?? fe-(3)(d?) would be nice but i dont know if i wanna pay $500 for a 200k+ mile kia egine.. and im not gunna "hotrod" this thing i dont mind the 10 minutes it takes to get to 60 lol but would be nice to have something cool.. lol

im askin this cuz im pretty sure something major is wrong with my head.. i found a tiny chunk of metal sittin on top of the head when i took the valve cover off.. and on of the cam bolts wont torque down at all any more... it tightens but i cant get it to set at the torque rate... and who knows what hell this almost 250k mile engine has been through..

thoughts and opinions welcome. thanks guys

do not buy the jap 50,000 mile engines they are junk they are only built to last 60.000 they are a waste of money get a low mile motor from a wrecker or find a totaled truck and pull that engine

my thoughts on it are if you couldnt make the turbo swap happen then you cant do the fe3 swap either because its basically doing the same things for the swap. The imported jap engines are there because people are forced to take them out of there vehicles in japan due to emissions. If you knew that you were only gonna have the engine for 50k how well would you keep the maintanence on the engine? How hard would you run that engine while you have it? lol thats just my opinion on it though. Id just rebuild your engine or find a low mile engine like todd advised.

well i thought the fe3 would be an easier swap cuz it came from a rwd suv and i wont have to mod the intake or the distributor.. and thanks for the tips on the jap engines! and raoch id buy your setup lol but i dont think i can do that kinda fab work lol and im not rly lookin for v8, but my buddy was still lookin for a 302 he just never called me back.. ill get ahold of him again and see whats up

have you done any reading on other forums about the fe3 swap? its not just simiply bolt in and drive..... if theres just something wrong with your head then get it rebuilt or buy another one... that would be the easiest and cheapest solve
