burn oil? cuz i just rebuilt it and its low on oil and was wandering if there supposed to burn oiil and i painted the engine black so its real hard to find oil leaks. or do i maybe have a bad oil leak i see a slite one which i might have to pull the head off cuz i think i messed up the head gasket part of the front cover seal. anyway should it burn oil? if not then i have a bad leak and i look in my driveway every day to see on the ground and dont see any but my exhasut when i start it up puts a black mark on teh ground .

black mark on concrete wont be burning oil that's most likely carbon from your exhaust
burning oil will result in blue smoke
burning coolant will result in white smoke
Your engine should NOT burn oil if its freshly rebuilt
did you break it in properly?

you will have to describe whats leaking better or even post pictures

my b2600 burns oil, it smokes on start up, and when im on the gas hard, it also leave a good size black mark on the driveway also

before i rebuilt the motor in my b2200, i was going through 4 liters of oil a day, it turned my tailgate black, it was from the oil

you might want to run a thicker oil, it might slow it down

A properly rebuilt motor should not pass oil through the rings or valve seals. Was this motor rebuilt professionally? or just a new bearings/rings and fire it up rebuild? I would not be happy starting a freshly rebuild engine that burns oil.

ok i popped a head gasket on it a long time ago. got the head resurfaceed and rebuilt. slapped it on and drove it. then i took it apart and got bottom end rebuilt. got it put all back togetether finally got it timed right. and im runnin 10w30 mobil 1 synthetic. i have a minor leak on the front cover looks like its comin from the headgasket, and front cover. when i put the head on i messed up and put the cover on after puttin the head on and messed up the gasket some. but it was ok and now its startin to leak oil. slowly. and havent looked over the engine yet to make sure its leakin from somewhere else. but if its supposed to burn oil then ok.
