Installed 32/36 weber and pacesetter header. Don't have any vac. leaks. All the right hoses are blocked off. The fuel pump is only supplying the carb with 1 psi of pressure. The truck runs out fine. But idles like crap. Spits, sputters and dies sometimes. I've adjusted the carb to no end and still have the same problem. Is the fuel pump the cause of the problem. My logic is i can tune the carb all i want. But if i'm not getting 3.5 psi of fuel pressure it won't matter how i tune the carb. Any opinions on this matter would be greatly appreciated. L8R.

I would have to say it is a vacumn leak some where even if you have checked I would take another look. If it was a fuel pressure it should cause a problem at higher rpms when there is more of a demand for fuel then at idle.

My truck was doing the same thing when I had lost a vacumn cap and didnt realize it at first, ran like crap at idle and couldnt adjust it out.

do you have the distrib. advance and the pcv hooked up? also 1psi is really low

Yea. Pcv and dizzy are hooked up. I've got caps on all the openings on the intake manifold. I've looked all over the place and can't seem to find any vac. leaks anywhere. I'm just stumped.

Get a can of starting fluid or carb cleaner and spray all of your vac hoses and caps to make sure you dont have a leak. and around the bottom of the carb where the adapaters are to double check for a possible leak. It will change the rpms of the motor if you find a leak.

^ very good call

Founds outs it's leaking around the base plate of the carb. How have you guys tried to seal around the base with the cork gasket that came with the Weber kit or can you recommend a better one.

Peragasket makes a sealant for fuel systems. but I would get new gaskets and then a tube of that stuff, its not really a gasket maker like RTV but more of and extra step, dont use regular RTV it wont hold up and you will be doing it again. I put a light coat of it on when i put the gaskests on just as a precaution because i had seen some others having problems with the gaskets. some people just used two gaskets to fix the leak so they had a better crush to it.
