rf flywheel on fe3??

i have read that the rf engine(first gen escort diesel right?) has the same 8 bolt crank as the kia fe3 cuz they have mostly rf engines in the kia overseas or something.. is this true?? i just want a YES cuz im gunna source a junk yard, if i cant get one from a kia or an escort diesel then i guess ill try to save some money for a new one lol

Why not use the Sportage flywheel? Thats what I'm using. The Mazda clutch will load right into it. The flywheels are almost identical except for the flywheel pattern and the pressed on trigger wheel.

You're the guy I E-mailed the other day when I saw your Craigslist add for the turbo engine and saw the pic of your FE3 aren't you?

From what Ive read you can use a flywheel from a b2600i too. More info here:

orangemazda, yeah thats me lol(shoulda said you were on the scene i woulda hooked you up with a deal instead of being a d*** lol) the reason im not using the kia flywheel was it was an auto and it looked nothing like the mazda flywheel... it had some pins and odd cut slots in it, im guessing for a torque converter?? not sure if the auto and 5 speed would be the same so i just passed. wasnt in that good of shape anyways.

elbine, i think ill look into that! i read that thread before but for some reason i thought that truck had the mazda 2.6 that came in the later models overseas but im really gunna check that too when i hit the wreckers tomorrow


what im gunna do is bring the engine and a trans down with me and get a few, if i find one that fits and is small enough to clear the bell housing ill return the rest lol

That's cool. I'll keep an eye out for a flywheel for you. I've got a buddy here on the scene who has a KIA swap too. I'll give him a shout and see if he's got a spare flywheel he can spare.

I talked to my buddy who is on here too (Madlowmazda) and he told me..."I am pretty sure a 2wd b2600i 5 speed (flywheel) will bolt to a Kia, yes I know it's a g-style trans but I am 90 percent sure it will work"...

I'll keep an eye out for one of those too.
