Will the Mazda FE3 distributor work without the computer?

Hello, I'm planning on doing the FE3 swap on a B2200 truck that I have.

What I want to do is stay carbureted. I can and will fabricate an intake for the FE3 for a carb.

Please don't turn this post into a debate of carbs vs EFI. If you like, and can tune an EFI system then that is great, more power to you.

Me, I have been working on cars for nearly 30 years now, and would rather stay with something I know like carbs.
Would the distributor from a Mazda FE3 would it work without the computer?

i have the kia swap or the fe3 as they are liked to be called...but as far as i know it will not work so you may need to find a disy off a motor with one that will work for what you got planed

Well, I found out the Mazda version did have a dizzy. I might have to gut it, and replace the internals with a regular pickup, but until I have one then I don't know.

I dont think the FE3 distributor will work without the engine computer. For some reason I think I saw a thread about using the pickup distributor in a FE3 engine on the mx6 forum. Ill see if I can find it.

You can use the F2 distributor, but you will have to extend the driveshaft on it to reach the exhaust cam, as the FE3 distributor is longer. The F2 and FE3 cams use the same size gear on the end of the cam where they drive the distributor. So in theory it seems possible to use the stock F2 distributor in the FE3 and not have to worry about the computer to control the FE3 distributor.
