Hey all, thanks for the great forums first of all. Its funny how there is a forum for everything nowadays.

Any who, I just picked up a slammed '89 B2200 for dirt cheap, with what I suspect is just a blown head gasket.

I just got my gasket replacement kit, and am getting ready to get going.

I figure this shouldn't take too long, hopefully. Anyone have any tips or tricks for me to make this easier? I've worked on BB Chevy's all my life, the little baby 2.2 looks so fragile under the hood, lol.

Also, anyone got any good lines on mods. Lets just say, money isn't really an option. I got this truck to trick out and have some fun with. I just don't know the year or engine too well.

Looking forward to hearing what everyone has to say.

Thanks!

Ken

best word of advice if your doing a head gasket when you pull the head HAVE IT PRESSURE tested for cracks these heads are famous for cracking id hate to see ya go through all that work for nothing!!!!!! also have it checked to make sure its not warped

also check for warping too depends on how HOT they got it, and make sure you get your timing marks right the first time, torque everything correctly, basically do it right the first time sucks getting it all back together and then having to take it back apart again

Right on guys, thanks for the replies!

I'm glad you guys brought up getting the head checked for warpage, even though I don't want to admit it, I was just going to replace the gasket set and call it a day...

I was doing some reading on the b2200 and saw someone that put a 12 valve head on their 2.2l. Where the hell can I find that head, and the rest of the mods he did to that engine.

Also, I was thinking of just doing an engine swap. There is enough room it looks like for any small block, but I saw a glimpse of something about sticking a rotary engine in it. What's that end up like?

Here are some pics I just took. It's not much, but the sky is the limit really. I'm the owner of a local medical cannabis club, and this will probably end up being my tricked out delivery vehicle.

Alright, well the head was up pretty bad, so I had to replace it. I went and pulled one from a junk yard for now, had it tested and checked for warpage, got it on the little beast and got her running!

So, whats up with the 38 DGES Weber? I've been thinking of dropping the coin for one of those, I can get one here in a couple days. Should I get a new header too? Which one should I get?

Also, what about exhaust, what route have you guys gone?

Looks like a good project! Just to help you out, you probably want to make a new topic for each question with a title like the description of your question. Not as many guys will check this thread. I just wanted to put that out there so you get more responses and help with your project.

And once you have a few threads going and you want to check up on each of them click at the top where it says "view your posts" and this will bring up all of your threads to make it easy breezy
