Possessed???

Got in the truck to go to work yesterday morning and the engine fired up just fine, got to the first traffic light and the motor was idling smooth.
The light is getting ready to change and I push the clutch in and move it into 1st gear and the motor revs to a high rpm without touching the gas pedal or releasing the clutch.
I get to the next light and find out it does the same thing in every gear when at a complete stop, just move it into gear and it winds up itself, pop it into neutral and it comes back down.
When cruising in gear the motor maintains that high rpm regardless of which gear I'm in causing me to put extra work on the clutch, backing up is a bitch too....lol

I\'m not that familiar but is that year efi?

i dont think they had efi until 90. all the 2.0s as far as i know are carb'd. i really have no idea what would cause the idle to increase when put in gear...

Yeah, it's a carb.
The only thing I can guess is maybe a broken motor mount and it's twisting somehow???....kind of a shot in the dark.
I have a friend coming over tomorrow to work the clutch while I'm under it.
