The engine is the 2.2 L with a 32/36 Weber carb, pace setter header, 263 duration cam, accel chrome coil, and a lightened fly wheel.. A couple years ago the stock engine over heated and warped the head..Since then I rebuilt the engine and replaced stock parts wih the ones listed above. At idle the engine runs perfect, anything over aproximately 3500 R.P.M's the engine sputters. The spark plugs are new NGK iridum's. I removed the spark plugs and they are extremely black which means the air/fuel mixture is running rich. Our elavation is 3700 ft above sea level. Weber's diagnosis guy said that the 2 primary jets shouldn't be any smaller than .035 " or it would run lean. I installed .035" jets into both ptimaries and the plugs are black again. The engine is running rich and I don't think the carb is the problem anymore. I'm thinking it might have something to do with the electrical system, with a stethescope you can hear a squeeking sound in the coil. I purchased a new accel chrome coil today. I want to make sure i had the coil hooked up correctly before i install the new one. I would appreciate any information or pictures to show how you guys wired your coil.

Can you take some pictures of how you have it wired up currently?

Here is a picture of the engine bay..unfortunately the coil isn't in this picture.. I can't get a picture right now cause the truck is at the local Advanced Engines shop. When i originally replaced the stock coil with the accel coil I put a two way male terminal connector on the positive side of the coil and hooked the two blue wires coming from the distributor to the positive side connector and I hooked the yellow wire thats connected to the core suppurt to the negative side of the coil. Does this make any sense? How is the stock coil hooked up?

Yeah, thats the correct way to install the coil.

Nice engine by the way

The negative and positive wires that connect to the coil were hooked up opposite of how it should be. I removed the coil and installed a new one with the wiring connected correctly. The problem is solved. Thanks for ALL your help.
