check engine light stays on

hey hows everyone doin...good i hope..lol i have a question and cant find my answer...i been searching on here and ssm and mazdatrucking for my solution....my check engine light comes on and stays on...after all i have read i found u can ground the green plug wire and turn key on but not start truck...i have done this and my light is still on constantly....i tryed to reset it by disconnecting my neg and pressing the brake pedal for 30 seconds as i have read in other forums....but nothing it stays on...i need to figure this out so i can find out why my truck idles ruff....at start up its fine...10 15 seconds later it misfires....when i hold the at 2000 rpm ts fine..only at idle it mis fires and the code should tell me whats wrong..

oh forgot to say its a 93 fuel injection auto

there is a plug under the dash, driver side, i believe a white wire and a green wire, if you disconnect which one is plugged in, and plug it into the other connector that will reset your light. if you can wait till morning when its daylight i'll take a picture and post it up for you. the check engine light comes on every 60-80k depending on length of total key on time. its listed in the chiltons repair manual on how to do it, and how the timer works that causes the light to come on at those intervals. its supposed to be a reminder to have your emissions stuff checked (like replace the O2 sensor).

i was gonna say the same thing. mine came on at 90,000

so i found that wire under the driver side of the dash..i unplugged it and light went out..i plugged it in the other one its brown with white strip on there...the light went out....when i turn the key to the ON position the light dont come on...shouldn't it come on for a few seconds b4 u start it?...i tryed to jump it again with green single wire plug by the passenger side to see if codes come up but i dont get any light from the engine light...is this right or am i doin something wrong

hate reliving the past guys, just hit 60k, unplugged green wire, plugged in brown, do i now just leave that one plugged in until next time or switch it back to green, this light pisses me off...
