hi, i need info on my 1986 mazda b2000. sometime when driving my truck shuts down when i am driving no matter what speed your going. its like the fuel system shuts off. i can coast to a stop, turn the key to the off position and crank the the engine back up with no further problem. this does not happen all the time, but is aggravating. could this be the ecm going bad ? hopfully someone can tell me whats wrong. thanks. this truck is a 1986 b2000, 2.0 L, 5 speed , all original.

So it's almost like you turned it off while driving? Does it surge or sputter or anything before it shuts down?

fuel injected or carburated

check fuel pump and also filter the last time my truck died was because the fuel pump only work at a certain rpm range and my filter was on the carb side which is stupid and i didnt do it was already done when i got it but try the fuel pump first only arond 30 bucks and its probably your problem

check your ignition switch.
encountered the same problem before, did a bunch of stuff to figure out what was wrong, found my ignition switch was the culprit.
hard to find a new one here in PI so ran a bypass switch instead, now got a security feature too.

x2 on the ignition switch. While driving mess with key and see if it dies. i have had 2 mazdas do this.

i did not even think about the egnition switch. now i think about it, that fits. its like you just cut the truck off going down the road. even when you coast after it cuts off it will not start. you have to completly stop cut the switch off and then crank the truck back up. which it does every time. it is aggrevating and dangerous on a busy road. thanks for this info, i will try this tomorow and let y'all know. thanks!
