So the other night it would not start when i went to leave work. I checked to make sure i was getting fuel and i was. Checked spark off coil and nothing. After checking a few things and it started. It got me home but died several times. I checked coil and it was out of resistance, so i replaced it. It dies all the time now. going down the road its like i just turn the key off, nothing. sometimes it comes right back on and goes. When it dies completely sometimes i can start it right back up. sometimes nothing. it is a b2600. I checked computer and the inside looked ok.

I have 2 guesses. #1 is the ignition control module inside the distributor, and #2 is the ignition switch. When it dies try holding the key in several different positions, if it jives at a sweet spot then you need a new ignition switch.

thats what i was thinking. They are proud of them!

i'm not 100% on this one but the ignition switches from the B2000/B2200/B2600 should be the same part number. Try finding a few in some JYs and see if these fix your problems.

what year 2600...? there are a couple possibilities for no spark... have you recently pressure washed your engine bay...? i like to try to direct people to check the multi use ignition relay cause i had mine go out and i ended up: replacing my dizzy, cap/rotor, plugs, wires, coil, coil module, radio interference module, ecm rebuilt... and like $600 later i come to find a relay that had gotten water in it, wasnt mounted on the fenderwall like it was supposed to be, and i replaced that and the truck has run since. and it was doing exactly what you are describing in how yours is acting... just a thought...

what does that relay look like? drivers side or passenger side?
