I have an 88 B2200, it has the usual mods, weber 32/36, header, etc. I recently replaced the head gasket, valve stem seals, etc. Heres my problem: Before I replaced everything, it smoked under moderate to heavy acceleration. It still does after replacing everything. My question is this: Would not having a pcv valve cause this problem? The previous owner removed the pcv valve and replaced it with a breather/filter. I just don't think the problem is the rings, it has way too much power and no sign of blow-by. I would really appreciate any help, it's about to drive me up the wall, and I'm about done putting oil in it every little bit.

I temporarily routed that line on my 1988 B2200 in 2011 to a breather/filter to try to see if it affected its smoking; it did not. My compression was 165 psi in all four, and ran well, just smoked/used oil.

So I rebuilt the engine in Oct. 2011, that cured the smoking.
