This one will have power at the red wire when you turn the lights on, for the gear selector indicator, so you can rule it out.

Hope this helps you out:

On my shop manual for an 88 B2200 it shows two Black Yellow, a Red White and a Black Red set of wires on a four connector plug for the auto trans. On a manual trans it uses a single Black Yellow as the source. The Red White is the feed wire to the back up lights. There is a 10A fuse position that powers this feed for the Black Yellow wire.

Have you checked for the 10A fuse if it's okay? Another thing to try is run a test wire from the back up light socket closer to the 4 wire connector. Then use the multi meter to check for continuity between the wires...

just my two cents

Thank you sir

This helps
If the 10a fuse you are speaking of is the "meter" fuse, then yes it is good
Any chance you know if its the 4 prong plug I have pictured? Once again, any chance it gives which position in plug those wires are in?
If I got that lucky, then I could match positions and not depend on colors since they are different(possibly)

UPDATE

I started tracing wires this morning, figured out that the fuse block under dash is missing the power out wire on the "meter" fuse
There's power into socket, thru fuse and into other terminal but there is no wire coming out of it
That's why I don't have power to any wires by shifter, can't seem to find a wire hangin out anywhere behind dash, so I'm looking now to see how to run my own power to the reverse switch

Thanks for the help guys

Your pictured 4 wire connector is very different from the shop manual I have. Here's a very simple setup of how the wires are positioned if you look from the connector plug end.

BY- -BY
RW- -BR

The - represents the spade connector shown on the diagram.

As you can tell it's two rows of two wires per row.
Your connector is four wires on one row.

Question on the back up switch attached on the side of the transmission, are they bullet connectors or spade connectors?

mine were bullets

and yea, not real sure the whole story on this truck, another person did the swap and didnt tell me anything when i bought it...everything was done horribly and there are so many things missing and different from manuals, diagrams and wiring layouts..
im still trying to figure out what is missing to get the temp gauge to work

the lights didnt work, the light switch assembly on steering wasnt right, no reverse lights, temp gauge doesnt work, didnt block off vacuum tips that werent needed, didnt tune carb, throttle cable was loose, trans bolts were loose

Wow sounds like you'll busy for a while...

As for the reverse switch on the transmission I would run new wires for the power feed from the fuse block. Then include the continuity test for the reverse lamps and go from there...

I would most likely do same if it was mine. I like to feel that I'm above average on electrical stuff.

That's what I did.
Thanks guys
