apperently you cant get these things anywhere without buying the 250$ distributor. does anybody here know where I can get one?

ill take a picture if you want but its the little square black plastic cube that screws on to the side of the distributor. Im pretty sure its a radio interference thingy(capasitor I think).

any help on an aftermarket would be great thanks guys, I want my radio to stop oscilating with my rpm's.

That is one of those parts I'd get from the dealer, your assured of getting the proper part and you know it works. I'll see if I can find the part number. hey aren't that much and I believe they are actually a touch cheaper than aftermarket.

Not my pic but it has the part numbers on post 89 here.

That post says like $2.56 from the dealer for the famed black box.

I bought a condenser for an old (1960s/1970s) air-cooled VW at the local VW parts store and I have that on my B2200.

Ya its a capacitor. .47uf/250V rating. I did similar to Cusser and just used an old condenser for a 70's era Ford. Don't know if its the proper value though (I don't think it matters as far as the ignition system - mine runs fine). I'll probably just order one from a dealer to make sure.

Oh ya (when I think back to my electronics days)...and it might be part of the primary ignition oscillation circuit. If so, the capacitor is necessary to get the oscillation going in the coil after it fires. It produces a ringing voltage for a few cycles that effectively increases the duration of the spark and yes that would give you better ignition and more power. So I correct myself - I think the proper value of capacitor is important for optimum spark performance.

Is your radio wired directly to the battery?
