Hey all. It's been a while since I visited this forum last!
I thought I'd throw up some build pics of our new shop truck/parts hauler.

This was my bosses husband's old truck. He bought it just over 8 years ago with the intention of using it for his contracting business. He had the head and injector pump fully rebuilt, and the cab resprayed. He ended up picking up Toyota cheap as well, and decided to use that.
The Mazda got parked under a tree and it has sat there ever since.

8 years later, throw in a battery and some diesel, and it fired up straight away!! The clutch master and slave were rusted solid, but I still managed to drive it back to the shop

Managed to get it out of the long grass after chocking some wood under the tyres.

Interior. A few new parts still in boxes in the truck. The left window was missing so it was pretty dirty and wet inside.

Got it back to the shop and started the clean up, and tear down.

Got out the pressure cleaner to get the 8-odd years of dirt off it!

Damn you guys get Ll the good stuff over there. Diesels. Rhd. And four doors

But you guys get LHD, and shortbeds! lol

Now it's time to tackle a few problem areas!
The only rust (surprisingly) is in the LH roof gutter

And a spot in the Drivers footwell.
Oh, and this....

Luckily I had a sports muffler and some spare pipe laying around from my old Honda. It actually sounds pretty good for a diesel!

It's been a long tedious task trying to remove the shitty old acrylic paint, but we are nearly there now. All the rust has been plated, and antenna, badge, and mirror holes have all been welded up. Hopefully I will be shooting primer by the weekend.

Got to work shaving a few things straight away. Stone guards, tailgate handle, tie down rails, seams above and below the taillights, and the rubber stoppers at the rear.

damn you sure made quick work out of that! I wonder how much it would cost for one over in Australia to ship over a RWD head, IP and manifolds. Def out of my budget for now but still curious.

If you ever want to do it, I'd be happy to chase down the parts for you.

And here it is, with colour.
First I laid down some GM Glacier white 2-pac

Then masked off the bottom half, and shot some Envy Green (also a GM Colour) on the top, and finished off with 2 coats of Orange metalflake clear, and 2 coats of straight clear.

And here it is outside. Its real hard to get a decent photo showing the flake.
