tailgate hinges

ive slowly been working on my gray truck as its been taking up space in the garage, the truck needs a new rollpan and tailgate, so since i have to do i bunch of work i thought i would hide the tailgate hinges

i cant take credit for this, i did see it a pic of roughly what it looks like and ran with it, so here are the pics

the tailgate mount in the bed was lowered an 1 1/2" and hinge cut up along with the angeled extention


here is the hinge all welded up and in primer, next to the stock one


bolted in and tucked under the tailgate


the hinge working just like the factory one in every way


the rollpan up in place to show that the hinge is no more

thanks guys, it looks pretty straight forward, but let me tell you ive been on and off it for almost 3 months, i got to a point where if i went any farther there was no turning back, and i didnt know if it was going to work properly, so i spent many hours looking at it thinking "ok i have to do this and make sure this is perfect and straight and blah blah blah,then on sunday night, i told myself i would make it work that night, and it had to open the same way as the stock one, well, before i knew it, it was done, i didnt really take any measurements, i just had the factory one on the other side bolted in knowing where the hole placement and the hight it had to be when the tailgate is closed

so... as for a tech write up, i dont know how well ill do with that, i dont know if it was the simplest way of doing it but it is one of the stongest, but i will post pics every step of the way, and explain what i did (if i can remember)
but im sure there are other ways of doing this i just figured this way works too
