So i decided to start a build thread for my mazda. Ive got a 87 b2600 4x4 reg cab lwb i plan to do work on. Im going for an oemish feel, but bagged and bodied. No heat/ac/pwr steering, and i switching to swb and hopefully rhd.I am going to actually use the 4x4 frame and body to do the build, just gut all the 4x4 stuff. I have a 1.8 bpt for the build, and i am mateing it to a miata 1.8 b rwd trans. I have black 22s and a complete airride kit left from my f150 build im doing. Still need tires and some other misc parts, but for most part i have things i need to get started. ok enough talking, heres pics so far.

this is the goal, but red w black wheels and grey interior

here she is on way home

these are wheels, need 3 new tires lol

we pulled motor/trans, and bed then i took to my house to mess with during my work week, my pops has a shop 30 mins away im building my f150 in, but thats to far of a haul on worknights.

dropped front axle and started cleaning up to cut out wheel wells

gets decent movement, gunna z cradle like 98+ rangers and newer mazdas to lay frame evenly. im gunna try and use fact uppers and lowers, maybe have to pie cut them to stop binding

got some flares and a roll pan from mikey

how she sits as of last night...all comments welcome, good or bad i love to hear it all.

Im doing a traditional body drop, after seeing mikeys the other day rocking stock carpet and all. Less work is my goal, lol

it seems that my rhd idea isnt happening, not having any luck. but on with good stuff!

trimmed lca to clear frame, and cleaned where im z'ing frame

cut lca mount in front to clear lca

cut frame to lay flat frame, now to make plates and gusset

now she is laying flat frame, cut the rear clip to make new swb frame outta 2x3

SO i forgot to check mounting location of motor when it was in, and was wondering if the steering linkage setup is in the way of oil pan or anything on a 4wd? it seems really far up and back.

i havent gotten my swb bed yet, but i was hopeing to start on frame in near future, i was wondering if any of u swb single cab guys could take a measurement from the back of your cab to the front of the rear axle so i can setup for my new rear clip.

thanks,

david

Ive been spending all my moneym and most of my time working on my f150 tryin to get her rolling chassis by "at the shop 3" on the 24th..got my frame painted and back together on her, and cab on...but back to my mazda.
Not much of an update, but i cut/rolled the pinchweld outta way, think ill just be cutting the nipples off all my 4x4 sheetmetal to lay her flat.
