Very frustrating. I worked on it last night after work. I'll post what I did in another post.

Put the alt back in...put new belts on and fired it up w/o A/C on...13.7V. Turned A/C on...13.5V. Let it idle for a while and it held 13.5V. I guess the connectors being corroded and the belt being slick both contributed to it. I'll consider it fixed and will post back if something changes. The B is sitting in the driveway for now...waiting on the header to come. I'm tired of the exhaust leaks...so it sits until the header comes.

I did an alt swap (remanufactured) and still had low voltage until i reallly tightened my belt. The belt may not be visibly slipping, tighten it up and use a big bar for leverage. let us know if that helps

check your power lead from the alt. make sure that the 80 amp fuse hasnt blown. if you have to make a temporary cable to come off the alt. and run it straight to the hot post on the battery. when i swaped the ford 3g 130amp alt on my b thats what i had to do. ill have to post a pic of it soon. but it puts out 14.6V at idle.

i might have to try that ward......although i replaced just about everything with four gauge i do have a smaller ten guage hooked to my positive lug on my alt...not sure what its for... its probably redundant...

I drove it to work today and it's blowin' hard...so it looks like swapping belts, tightening the belt, replacing the connector and giving the bat cables a good wire brushin' did the trick.

Thanks for all the help/tips guys!

the black 10gauge wire the is coming off the stud on the solenoid where the 175 amp fuse is is the power supply going to the mazda fuse block under the hood. the red 10gauge is coming from the ALT. the spot where the fuse is on the solenoid has a hot coming from the battery. Hope this helps

i cannot stress how important proper tention is. my voltage jumped up when my belt was tensioned properly
