mazda cab plus project " OCD "

Well so you guys know this is going to be the slow boat to china . I have a 89 mazda cab plus bagged, sheet metal bed, shaved and 18" navigator rims yota 4runner bumper . a pic of before some of the other work was done .I have been working on this truck for a bit over a year. Well i decided i wanted to body drop it "BUT" i see and hear of a lot of people starting and never finishing and i know it will be atleast a 2 yr. process so i decided to keep working on my 89 and just build another truck.

Im buying a 2600i cab plus with bad motor and my plans so far are sfbd , 5.0 motor with t5 trans and ford explorer 8.8 rear end with 2 short axles " about 2" shorter than stock mazda rear end. for the front i bought toyota drop spindles " i need a arms "

here is some pics of the parts im using the 4x4 bed off a standard cab and my 5.0 parts car. I ended up buying the 94 95 belt drive system that gives me an extra 1 3/4 "

2years for a bodydrop

2 weekends holy shit. I guess it depends on what an actual body drop is considered to be. Theres tons of metal work, cutting welding bending cussing and in some cases, bleeding haha. Were in the process of our body and we got the cab done in about a week. 2 guys working a few hours a night, sometimes more and sometimes less. Its our first BD so its a little slower progress but its deffinately a lengthy tedious process... 2 years is insane and that could happen if you work at a snails pace once a month. Dont let the work discourage you because its deffinately worth it, you just have to stay on it to get it done.

Done a traditional BD on my 89 standard cab in a weekend with one friend helping. Not a difficult job as long as you have the tools and supplies you need. It will take longer to strip all the interior out and put it back together than it will to BD it.

What are you guys considering the body drop to be? Simply cutting and re-welding all the sheetmetal on the cab and bed, firewall tubs, fabbing new inner fenders, dropping and replating the frame horns, making new cab and bed mounts, raising or remaking a new bed floor, relocating the clutch master cylinder, seam sealing and painting everything in one to two weekends? I dont see that possible to have a complete body drop with everything i listed done in that time frame unless your doing this stuff daily with alot of experience.

My first traditional bodydrop on my truck to the rockers took two weekends.

U guys must have way more skills than me or my buddy because it took us 2 full weekends of work to just do my bed Maybe u guys are talking about cutting and tacking things back together but I really don't see a body drop " good job " being done in 2 weekends. But the main reason I think it will take a long time is we are doing 3/4 frame , 5.0 and t5 trans and an explorer rear end that has to be cut down. Then I want Toyota 5 lug do have to save up for some arms. Not talking any shit but ya I'm sure things could be done a lot faster if you do a wam bam I'm done body drop

My current "bodydrop" has taken 4 years...

It included rhd conversion, bodydrop to the doors, new sheetmetal cab floor, shaved firewall, new control arms, 5 lug and a bunch of bunch of bunch of other shit.

So dont fret and do what you do!
