SCAB:
1. A crust discharged from and covering a healing wound.

2. Slang A person regarded as contemptible.
a. A worker who refuses membership in a labor union.
b. An employee who works while others are on strike
c. A person hired to replace a striking worker.

make a long story short, i call this the scab because the bomber went on strike for a new motor and this was to temporarily replace the bomber until it was up and running again, and the amount of rust underneath it was scary, every bump i hit i could hear it falling off

i bought the truck from my in-laws neighbor who ive known for years, ive helped him fix it a few time and given him parts to keep to keep it going.

the truck sat in the driveway untouched for 3 years, knowing it runs and drives, couldnt understand why it sat, i havent seen him either, one day i ran into the owners son at the local performance shop and asked if i wanted it, i of course did want it, he told me he is really sick with lung cancer and he'll never drive it again and then go and see him and its mine. couple days later i drove over and knocked on the door and ended up paying $100 for it, next day i filled the tires, boosted the battery, drove it on the trailer and towed it home, wife wasnt happy, but i was, so let the adventure begin!

this is what it looked like the night i bought it

the next day after we got it started and tires filled

first order of business: lower it and put on some wheels and tires that hold air

then fix i had fix the brakes, rusted siezed, i was being cheap and sanded down the rotors, cleaned the pads and pretty much molested the calipers and had them working like new and in the process it blew a brake line

i then had to replace the rotten floor after the old owner made a sad attempt to fix it himself, neighbor's garage is a full sheetmetal shop and cost me nothing

once i put on a new muffler and passed the smog test, i replaced the rusted and broken front end with a new bumper and stole the grill and bumper corners from my grey truck, i also went and bought some quarts of tremclad paint, thinned it out and sprayed the truck in my driveway the colors that the old owner wanted to see it in

the bed was in such bad shape i couldnt use it, but i couldnt find another good one to replace it with, so i found one that was usable for $100 and then is was off to the neighbors house to use his sheet metal shop again

all the bed work, paint and installed was done in a weekend, and this is how the end result turned out

that kept me happy for a week, and i got bored and added a little stripe

and then i stole some wheels from the bomber

and then i added some color to the interior. the seat were torn up too

and thats pretty much how the scab sits as of now
ive spent about $500 on it as it sits right now, including the $100 i paid for it, im quite happy with it

thanks guys

once the bomber is actually back on the road, i think the scab will be used as a work truck, im working with my brother-in-law servicing and refinishing fire hydrants for quite a few towns and cities, we keep picking up new contracts and now falling behind on our work, so adding this one to the fleet means i'll have to lift it up to carry a compressor, paint and tools and gonna have an old school logo painted on the side of it
