So, traded a fishing pole for a Tenzo R Sport Racing Cold Air intake, it's in good shape needs a little cleaning inside the tube itself, but i'm gonna take my drill with long extension and a copper brush and clean it up and re-polish the inside smooth. It is a metal intake housed in a nsemi plastic tubing? IDK for sure gonna look up lil info on it later on. Seems constructed well, and has a tubing outlet i can use to run a line into the top valve cover hole where i currently have a small" cold air " type filter.

Now I know omg wtf why? No not the hp or torque lmfao. Just something unique and different. Using the webers top plate I plan on having some 16-18 gauge thick sheetmetal ( old heating and air vent boot ) welded to the top plate and find a rubber stripping i can add along the bottom plate to seat it snugly against itself when snapping the clips on. The plan is to weld the pieces along the top all the way around except for the piece where i'm gonna mate the intake tube, here I will use the rounded end of the boot ( cut to fit etc lol ) then have everything fabbed up and finished off with the welding.

Another area I will be having a small piece fabbed up is long the top of the valve cover, looks like there are holes that are cut to allow bolts to be put in. If I can I plan on running a thin piece of sheetmetal across right here with a strap overtop the intake tube, just to keep it off the valve cover and to help keep it snug during driving.

K&n sells a carbed hat for the Weber. It's kinda pricy but it looks cool. I don't hate on ur idea I plan on doing the same eventually. I'll try and find a link to it.

did a quick google search, here are a couple links to some carb hats...

also an ebay search was useful.

I have used a generic carb hat on an old 4x4 rig for a snorkel setup...

Appreciate the links Spacemonkee, but from those prices I think I will custom fab it myself, BUT they did give me some ideas for other ways to do it

And Fdugn, If you'd like i'll take pictures as I do the build probably try my hands at a write up?

I'm doing all the measurements cuttig etc, only thing not done by my will be the welding due to issues with my eyes i'm not allowed to weld or risk permanent blindness even once.

Like i said i'm using a heating and air vent boot, can pick them up for under 10$ ( cheaper than sheet of sheetmetal, thick enough and a very smooth surface area for less air ressistance lmao! ) But plenty of sheet metal to work with if you buy an oversized boot. and it's 16 or 18 gauge thickness.

Tonight i may start on cutting up the pieces to be welded on the three sides. Then once I find a reasonably priced place to have it welded together i'll actually cut into the webers top plate to fit an inlet for the intake to mount on. Yeah sucks cutting into that top plate but h well i'll still be able to clip it on and be supported/snug in that area. Any ideas for a rubber striping or something i could use along the bottom to seal it? and still be able remove it.
