Found a turbo engine for my truck on the local Kijiji last week, seemed 90% complete for what I need, and price was good, so I should be going boosted this winter!!
I got a S4 Turbo engine, transmission, intercooler piping, Microtech standalone ECU with harness, stock ECU and harness, coils, & starter.
After getting the engine home and doing some closer inspection, I found that most of the engine and turbo is from a S5 car, which is good because they are better. The turbo has an upgraded compressor wheel and housing from a T4 turbo for more boost, it has upgraded 1000CC (95 lb/hr) secondary injectors, pulling the intake off found out that the lower intake manifold has been port matched, and it seems like the engine has been ported with a street port (same as a larger cam in a piston engine), and it has 3mm apex seals instead of the stock 2mm seals. Seems like this setup should be pushing about 15PSI of boost, and be around the 300hp-350hp, which should move the truck along nicely. With this power, and my 4.778 rear end ratio and a worn out limited slip that pretends to work, I may have traction issues haha.
This swap should be fairly straight forward, I already have an S4 rotary in the truck, so the electronics are the same between motors, I just have to do extra plumbing for the intercooler and exhaust, preliminary measurements show the stock turbo may fit just barely with the stock manifold, I hope so. I also have to modify the turbo transmission to fit in the truck, and the drive shaft to mate to the transmission. I know the B2600 transmissions are the same as this, so I assume the tailshaft will bolt on? Are the transmission crossmembers the same? If not, will they bolt up to the B2200 frame?
