I'm stumped. . .
Let me apologize in advance for the super long story of a problem

I got my b2600i about 2 weeks ago and it ran like a dream. No funky electrical issues, no problems starting, every thing lit up/worked properly.

A few nights ago I was working on my drift car and needed a little extra light. So i turned my b26's lights on for a while. I knew it'd drain the battery but i figured i' d just jump the truck if need be.

The next night I was going to leave to go the girlfriends house and yes, i did have to jump the truck. We live but 5 or 6 minutes from each other so it was only a short drive, with lights on so it charged a little, but needed jumped again when I headed home.

The next morning same deal, needed to jump the truck. I try, but it just wouldn't start. I could only get it to crank a few times before it ran out of umph and I had to let it sit a little longer before trying again. Strange, i thought.

So I try pulling the battery out of my 510, it had a full charge. Now, it won't crank at all. It acts as if it is either a low charged battery, or loose battery connection. it "clicks" when i turn the key to the start position, sometimes a single click, sometimes a continuous series of fast clicks. I checked and rechecked battery terminals, searched for all sorts of grounds to make sure they were tight, everything seems well. Checked the fuses that would relate to the problem, can't find anything wrong.

Now tonight i notice my stereo wont power up. . . Frustrating.

I don't know much about my wiring setup, I just got the truck from somebody who knew nothing about it. I have my main battery under the hood, with it's positive and neg cables as they should be, and then an additional going to a switch to a multiple battery isolator, and from there going to a second battery in the bed for my compressors.

There is also an alarm installed on the truck I cant quite figure out. Two aux horns or what you might call them, and two remotes that do the same thing, one button unlocks/locks doors as well as turns on and off the alarm, and the 2nd button is dead. I don' t get why there is two remotes tho. I have also noticed tonight that the alarm does go off, (I thought it didn't sound when the door was opened) it just is super super quiet. Like, wait shhhh, listen with your ear up to the horn quiet.

I am the worst when it comes to electrical issues. Suggestions anybody???

Thanks in advance!

So even with a good battery it clicks eh. Have you tried checking your starter area to make sure everything is clean and in propore working order? If i where you i would go through my truck and make sure every where there is a ground i would clean it and put it back on and see if that works. I took a quarter of auto electric and i cant figure this one out. But i also thought i would throw in my two cents. Good luck mate.

^^ Hey thanks a lot. I looked over what I could find and made sure all the grounds were tight. I gave the starter area a wiggle test lol, and it seemed good, tonight I will dig in and examine everything thoroughly I suppose. The starter area was difficult to get to, with all the vacuum/smog canister bs in the way. It was real cold in the garage and I didn't feel like removing it all, I just pushed it aside as mush as I could.

There's another question - How necessary is it to have the charcoal canister and all the vacuum lines going to it in the truck? I know back before my 240sx was a track car, I pulled out all the smog stuff and the ka's passed emissions easily as long as I had a good cat in there. The whole emissions canister and hoses are just an eyesore under the hood, and get in the way.

well, checked all grounds and connections again, made sure they were all clean and tight, as well as threw in a new battery. And all is well now, multimeter read ~12v on the original battery, but I think it was shot, didn't have enough current to turn her over.

also got those got awful flames sanded off, wet sanded and got it all ready for primer this weekend. Removed the iron cross style rearview mirror, have a wink panel mirror ready for it. Im very excited to get this project rolling now that it runs again!

It was probably just your battery man. I have a 2600i to and if my battery isnt fully charged i have the same problem.

nice job casey, it was either the battery was crap or the starter could have been part of it. But hey at lease you checked to make sure everything is all good lol. But nice job on gettin your truck runnin again.

Thanks, even if it wasn't the grounds its comforting knowing i took them all off, cleaned them up and tighten them all down good. Won't ever have to worry about them. Thanks for the input guys.

Nice that you got it working. I had a similar problem after I installed new silverstar headlights. Not sure if it was bad timing or not but the next day I drove to work and the alty wasnt giving any charge. I thought it was toast. Turns out the plug that comes out the back of the alty had corroded so bad no current was getting through. Cleaned it up, reinstalled old atly and away I went. It was just weird. something else to check in the future or for someone else with a weird problem.
