Ok, so Im wanting to convert from auto to 5 speed. Has anyone done this, or, know what all is involved (parts, etc....)? And yes I've searched and there was no listing for this. Thanks in advanced guys

I'm in the middle of doing this on my Toyota. I'm sure it's generally the same but there may be some minor differences. What year Mazda, 86? I'm sure others will chime in but hopefully this can get you started.

Here is a list of the parts I've had to replace or needed work, and other info.

1. Transmission
2. Transmission mount on cross member
3. Radiator will need some work depending on if your truck uses a transmission cooler. You can usually just create your own plugs for the transmission cooler out of the old connectors. The other option would be just to get a radiator out of a 5spd truck.
3. Drive shaft may be a different length.
4. Shifter
5. Pedal assembly
6. You need to pick up a clutch master cylinder
7. Dash - Steering column cover unless you want to throw people off and make you think you have two shifters.
8. You will need to pick up a clutch assembly, and flywheel or get one off donor truck machined. I would go ahead and install a new clutch though.
9. I'm not sure on Mazdas but may need to replace the starter as well.

I hope this is enough to get you started, I'm sure you will encounter similar things as I have.

Thanks baha, we are actually heading to get the parts on a parts truck near by. The truck is actually a 89, we gave $300 for this truck, the weber carb on it was worth that

Ok, so my buddy thinks he can get the auto fixed for like $30 so he ditched the whole 5 speed conversion, but thanks Baha for the list and anyone else that may have put in any input on the situation.
