okaay, yesterday i was wiring in led lights for inside my cab, and i had them hooked to a switch then the wires going to my battery. everything was hooked up right, so i thought or so i think, and the wiring got really hot and melted all the plastic so i tore it all out. then when i got all of that figured out and cleaned up, i went to boost my truck to move it, and to charge the battery up... Truck won't start! i changed the main fuse, still wont start, changed the battery still wont start. I have no power to my interior or my dash lights, i my headlights work, but dont change from low to high, signal lights turn on but dont flash, and same with my hazards!! PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME!!

Do you hear any clicking or anything? Check every fuse first.

no clicking or anything, and ive check all the fuses and they were all good besides the Main fuse which i replaced. but still nothing

I don't know much about your truck but what year is it? Is it fuel injected? Did you check the fuseable link on the starter? How comfortable are you with a digital multimeter? Sounds like either another wire may have burnt up or you may have removed a wire that you need when you replaced the other wiring.

Check the fuses under the hood

my truck is a 89, carb, and i have checked all the fuses. and everyone that ive talked to lately says and thinks it is the starter coil. I think i fried it when i went to jump it putting the cable on back wards. :/ couldnt tell which was + and which was -, dumb and a rookie mistake. but we will see if that coil is the problem. if not then may be the alternator

check the fuseable link...its a little gold box with about 6 inch wires coming from it with a plug, it is on the passinger iner fender...should be around the fuses area..( iv leard over the years that some trucks had these and some didnt)

Use the jump box or jumper cables and jump the starter directly. This will allow you to see if the starter works or is dead. Before you touch it properly locate the positive and negative! I have never understood how you can confuse the two.

i figure that it is the ignition coil, and the cables were going over the - and + and could not see or tell which was which, figure black wiring was gunna be the negative i know im not the smartest lol. but oh well we will see if i get it figured out today.
