My column makes a creaking, gritty noise when turned slowly. so I wan to know what to prepared to do to fix it when it gets worse.

Mine does the same thing. But I can only hear it when its pretty much completely silent.

So it sounds like Herman Munster's steering wheel, it is over 2 decades old !!!

tighten up the stabilizer links... laugh now, but i bet ya that's what it is! (ask me how i know)

Gosh, Jim...how do you know?

Where are these stabilizer links you speak of?

Those bushing are on the front sway bar.I use the energy suspension poly bushings over the stock crappy rubber ones from mazda. The two horseshoe bushings are 7/8 inch in size to my recall if you buy a set with all the bushings. The so called horseshoe wraps around the sway bar so no metal to metal contact.Tired from the day so if I left something off or incorrect may others correct me.

had a nice clunky vibrating jerky movemnt of the steeringwheel when i first got my 92 2wd truck... found the front stabilizer links a bit loose... tightened them and quiet as can be!
