So I drain the fluid, take down the filter and when i go to put the new filter on, one of the three bigger bolts toward the back won't grab whatever is in there. it slides all the way to the head and turns freely. I just left that bolt out and put all back together and re-filled. Did i mess something up??

I do remember that I had to align something back up, above the valve body on one of those bolts.......I wish I could remember exactly what it was, but I know what your talking about!
I was able to see what had to be done in order for that bolt to grab....it's like a threaded washer or something of that nature, so I hope for your sake it doesn't fall out of it's place and wreak havoc!

i couldn't see anything. all gears are functioning. i don't know what to do man. the manual doesn't help at all with this.

So i drove around in hopes the washer or nut would fall into the pan. get back, pull it down again and nada. It either fell out and i threw it away or its stuck somewhere and hopefully will fall into the pan if ever un-lodged. as far as the bolt i don't think i really need it. it has like 10 others.

Yep, at this point you've done all you can do.....hopefully it remains running as it should. If I pull mine down again, I will definitely get some pics of how that all is supposed to be in there, I don't know why I didn't do that the first time....I usually do!
