Hi. Not sure if this the right place to ask but here goes. I have a 1990 B2200, automatic , extended cab. It seems that the front and rear u-joints are not replaceable. I've heard it said that a one piece drive shaft is a better option.A one piece eliminates the center support bearing and probably comes with replaceable u-joints . If this is all true, does anyone know where I can get a one piece drive shaft for this truck, and approximately how one would cost ?? Thanks for you time.

The u-joints are supposedly not replaceable because they are staked.. I've changed a few myself with no problems..if you have a local driveshaft builder they should be able to do the joints and rebalance the shaft at a reasonable cost..if you had a Reg cab than you could do the single shaft conversion easily.. extended cab is kinda tough.. you'd have to find one out of a longbed which are very rare..and depending on where you are from..almost impossible ...best bet is to call local wrecking yards or to have it fixed.. if you're close to new england I have a ton of driveshafts and I could hook you up...

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes , this is an extended cab, so I guess repairing what I have is the answer. I do have a shop locally that specializes in drive shafts. I guess that's where it'll go. Thanks again.

Curiosity has me asking. Do you happen to have the part number and make of the front and rear u-joints that you've installed? Just in case the shop doesn't want to do the job. Thanks

I can get you the part number on Monday. I get them thru advanced auto.. the only pain is pressing out the old joints.. I have a big shop press that does the job well.. but as long as you have a decent press to use you should be fine..

Thanks so very much. I have already removed the old u-joints. That part number on Monday would be greatly appreciated.
