What is your input on which gasket to use on the oil pan? Would you prefer to use the cork or synthetic gasket if given the option? Thanks

rvt or synthetic... cork sucks. i do know that my complete rebuild kit did not include pan gaskets.... just syliconed the shit together.

I ended up getting a syn. one and also used rtv on both sides of the gasket. I found out 2 days later that I needed to remove the gasket........holy sh*t was it stuck on there. It deffinetly wasn't going to leak.....

A factory Mazda mechanic told me a decade ago not to use a gasket there, to use Ultra Grey RTV instead, so that's what I have used there, no leaks.
He said for valve cover and head gaskets: only genuine Mazda or Fel-Pro.

use RTV and make sure your pan is flat.

that ultra grey is some good stuff for oil pans...i use it on subarus all the time and have not had one come back with a leak.
