Does anybody know what size socket fits on my 73 mazda crankshaft? its just under a 1 3/8 so it'll be in the thirty mm range

where are you located? some auto shops do a loan a tool. you could get a few sockets from them to see which one you need.

1 and 3/8 is about 35mm. I have sockets for 30mm and 32mm myself, so those are the more popular sizes just below 35mm. Old VWs use 36mm, and wouldn't surprise me if some manufacturers also use 34mm.

So -you see that I'm no help !!!

Thanks I ended up just saying screw it and threw a chain wrench around the pulley.

good man, having any luck with it?

No its solid with no budge. I feel a engine swap coming and thinking the 2.0 out of my 84, a 2.0 out of a kia since im told they are a direct bolt in, last but not least just say screw it and do a 2.3 out of a mustang or thunderbird.

Was the 2.3 the turbo charged?
(I ask as they were never sold here)
If you're not interested in keeping it stock then HELL YES!
Mwahaha (Steeples fingers) more engine swap write ups the merrier I say!

They come with a turbo kit and some do have it. I believe the thunderbird had a turbo engine dont need to be stock but its hate to cut up my engine compartment to much, so a 5.0 is out of it
