Has anyone ever removed the pulsation damper. Is there actually that much pulsation in the fuel system? Do all EFI systems have one of these? Mine is leaking again for the second time.... and there aren't any of these left in the junk yards around here. Thanks everyone!

No the pressure regulator is on the end of the injector rail, it has a black vacuum hose hooked up to it.

You can buy new ones champ
It's just fuel connections so you should be able to find something that'll fit.
If the manufacturer added one I'd say keep it around, they're not a silly idea.

actually.... check the ford probes etc for the same part.

Probes don't have it.
If it's leaking from the seal, that is part# N304-13-291 and it's readily available. $3.23 from your local mazda dealer.

With the cars I work on...
Pulse dampeners are important. They'll keep the fuel pressure even, which keeps your idle and acceleration even.
You could research injector latency and its relation to fuel pressure if you want more information as to why the pulsation dampener is important.
Short story is, the injectors cause the pulsating, the pump pumps at a relatively steady rate and fuel will not squirt out of the injectors in a steady stream without it.
