I have 2.2 1987 b2200, Chiltons says left side rear, under engine block, but I don't see anything there. I also saw what may be it; attached to the underneath of what I think is the thermostat. A picture would be great. Thanks

Yes, that's the coolant temperature sender, just under the thermostat (on these the thermostat is passenger side of engine but front, not rear, is vertical and faces the passenger fender; follow the top radiator hose to the engine, and it's inside that water outlet that bolts on). Sometimes the wire gets knocked off of these. If you are getting a replacement sending unit, make sure it looks like the one in there, I've seen listings with different wire connections.

Thanks. So I compared the two parts and both are similar. I tried to pull off the female end, but it moves just a bit before its really difficult to pull off. I want to try to pull really hard but don't want to break it.
Is there a trick to get that plug off?
Will fluid come out when I take it out?

So I got the switch off. The repair manual says to torque to specific inch pounds, can't remember what it was. How important is it to get that exact?
I don't have a torque wrench.

People have done worse then missing torque specs. If it doesn't leak and you didn't strip it then its fine.
