Ignition problem

86 B2000, 2.2l. I let the truck sit for 2 years, now I decide to drive it again. The key on the on position will not have any lights dash etc on. turn to start starts up and all the lights turn on. Let the key go to on, shuts off. I was just going to cut wires and make switches to start it, if anyone has a diagram on what to do I will just do that. If someone had similar problems let me know what could be my couplrate. Thank mates

Sure sounds like the electrical portion of the ignition switch is TOAST !!! That's a common issue on these as they age.

suggested action? ide just do switches unless i need to buy that

Find the problem. Use a 12 volt test light ($6) or a digital multimeter ($15 sale at Sears Saturday) and the wiring diagram, find out what's wrong FIRST !!!
