Trying to get a reading on my old sending unit so i can buy a fuel cell with the right sending unit in it. Any 1 know what the ohm sweep is..

90-0 completely opposite of a standard gm unit.

thanks

now were can i find a sending unit that goes 90 ohms empty to 0 full. All the fuel cells i look at are gm style ohm..

Bump. Wondering the same thing. Is there a way to reverse the GM one?

I'd like to buy a fuel cell but Summit doesn't have any with 90-0ohm sending units. I'm keep my stock cluster so getting the fuel gauge to work properly would be great!

Ok ! I want gonna respond to this one, but, i'm laughing at myself I had to! Hope you guys get a laugh!
So the GM reads backwards? Remember back n the day, we use to take all emblems, logos, on fenders, grill, tailgate then three radio anything we could we would flip up side down! Even the cluster! not sure why we did this but dang i'm glad it didn't last! Anyways couldn't help but laugh at myself,!

LMAO. Hey, I might have to take the cluster apart and see if there is any way to flip the gas gauge upside down!
I'm assuming it would read full when empty and empty when full if I hooked it up to a GM sending unit?

Well I opened the cluster last night and flipping the fuel gauge is not an option. lol

To give a little background on the project, I installed a Ford 302 engine and it is carbureted so I will be using a low pressure inline electric fuel pump and regulator. I would like to buy a fuel cell as well for my 88' Mazda. I am going to be using the factory Mazda cluster and I want the fuel gauge to read accurately. Only problem is that I see the sending units for all the fuel cells do not match what the Mazda is (GM is 0-90ohms):
(From the 1988 factory manual, section 15 page 14:
Empty: 103-117 ohms
Half full 28.5 - 36.5 ohms
Full 1 - 5 ohms)

I read in another forum about swapping wires that go to the sending unit. I believe there are 2 wires going to the stock sending unit on the Mazda tank. One is the source wire that goes through the in-tank resistor, the other is the return from the resistor that goes back to the gauge. The gauge grounds it out. From what I read, I can swap the leads of the source wires and the gauge should read properly. Might be a little off since the ohm range is slightly off (90-117ohms). Has anyone else tried this?

I find it hard to believe out of all these custom Mazdas out there that nobody has a fuel cell with a stock fuel gauge that works.

The v8 pictured above has Mechanical fuel pump on it! Why not use it? also could consider using standard cab fuel tank turned sideways under bed at very rear of truck! Just a, thought
