I have recently came across information that leads me to believe I can swap the bell housing and tail housing off a new 86-93 mazda b2200 or b2000 and then use it to mate up a to a also newer 2.2 motor for my 1984 b2000 sundowner. I was looking to rebuild my motor but that 2.2 would be nice, truck is very gutless lol

Any info or facts would be nice.

my source for my question. " target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank

gear box should be the same, but weaker. If you were to put in another motor for more power you might wanna look in another direction other than a F2/FE motor. The motors, while pretty reliable, are also pretty weak in power. Someone on the other forum at one point put a motor in from a BP Protege into a first gen, using the bellhousing from a miata to mate it to the 1st gen transmission.
