Camming

Im thinking about putting a mild-heavy cam, what can the stock head hold? What upgrades would i need?

I'm thinkin the same thing . I'll be looking out on this thread . ^0^

what other work do you plan to do to the head? just throwing a different cam in there isn't going to do much of anything on a stock B without other mods.

Yeah, you'll have to port the snot out of it and put bigger intake valves, but still won't get the power you'd expect.

why does every one say that?

Bigger piece of bread = more spread lol...cams have lobes on them and when you put a "big cam" in the lobe sizes are increased from .715 to .845 (hyperthetical numbers) these bigger lobes push on the intake/exhaust ports holding them open longer (lobe duration) a standard cam will require so much air to fuel to compression timing etc...

So this means your gonna need more air if it wants it.. which means more fuel obviously

Opening up the valves means springs compress which means they lock or breakdown... a tough head for bigger ports lifters springs valves cam gear
Everything u do to any engine is a compromise this is a basic way of understanding the theory behind how it works n why "all people say that"

R90Baron has a delta stage 2 cam in his, with a pacesetter, ported head and intake, and a Weber 38. He lost some low end torque, but can pull through 5500 RPMs on his setup. I plan on using a state 1 cam eventually, a regrind can cost around $100 with a cam provided. He didn't do any valve work either, stock on the valves and springs.

Heavy as in duration, not sure about the 2200, 2000 is an 8 valve and 2200 is 16? Not positive about it. Sorry, wish I knewmore
