Sending unit in gas tank of B2200/2000 is a slider on a rod. After years of use, they wear out and gas gauge is really inaccurate.U can take gauge out, clean the rod and be sure slider fits as it should.Otherwise, dont trust the gauge.bj

I ran mine as low as I ever have before and when I filled it up I put 12.4 gallons in it. I thought the tank was 12 gallons so I was surprised I went over 12. When I fill it up, the gauge only shows 3/4 of a tank then drops down to around a little less than a half. After I drive it 100 miles it goes back to just under 3/4 of a tank. I set the trip odometer every time I fill up and am able to get 260-270 miles until I need to fill up. That's running the A/C. I know my sending unit is probably junk but for now and until I find time to drop the tank, it works for me.

I think someone already answered this, but reg cab trucks hold 12 gallons, ext cab nearly 15.When I fill my reg cab up,the gauge creeps up to the full mark, then drops like a rock to 1/2 tank. The last 1/2 tank it creeps slowly towards empty.Again, old worn out slider.I feel lucky to get 20 mpg around town-does alittle better on the road.another tank issue to be wary of: Had 2600i ext cab and over time, gravel had built up around lip og tank near frame.ended up wearing a hole in the tank.Found one in a j-yard,put it on,but the internal baffle was in the wrong place and every time I accelerated, truck died due to fuel starvation with less than a full tank..be careful to use the right tank when u replace.bj

ok thanks guys for the input on it ive been driving it around just getting about 130 miles out a tank need to just stick a gas can in the back and drive it till it runs out i guess anybody heard of having to like adjust the new sensor that goes in the tank or bending the rod maybe why it wouldn't read quite right?? i know it works off resistance reading so wonder if it had to be set or rod bent with it reading a certain resistance with it all the way up or down not sure??

New sensor should be ok.Sometimes u can fix a worn out sender by cleaning it well and bending old sensor/slider in till it makes good contact.bj
