My 2200 has hydro lifters and yes...they're tapping. I priced a new, rebuilt, solid lifter head and also priced lifters. It seems easier to just swap the whole head out and be done with it. My question is, will a complete, non-hydro lifter head (b2000) work on a b2200?

Would just changing out the hydro lifters stop the tapping?

Thanks!

Yes you could use the b2000 head BUT,you can just swap the mechanical lifters for the hydraulic ones instead.I know alot swap to the mech, but I even years ago back in 90 had my lifters upgraded to the bigger oil ports due to mazda changing to address this and yes ticking was less, but still does it more so in cold,or if truck has sat for awhile.Your choice but when ever I go to rebuild my 87 I am staying hyrdr and so be it.So in short find some mech lifters junkyard and just swap these over buying a whole head it will save you money. So if I am incorrect or left something off may others add/corr me.

Be sure and use the 2000 head gasket as it has oil passages in it the 2200 gasket doesnt.bj
