I really don't expect anyone to diagnose a clicking/banging noise on my B2200 but I just thought I'd post it in the hopes someone can benefit from this thread in the future.

Anyway...on the drivers side (at least I think it's on the drivers side) there is a loud, random clicking noise. It doesn't happen at any specific time like when I go over a bump or anything like that or in a turn...just random...like something is loose and banging the floorboard or firewall. I've crawled under that thing SEVERAL times to see if I can find anything that's loose...but NADA!

I've got all new front end parts in a box waiting to be installed this weekend. My hope is that something in the front end is making the noise. I don't see how that's possible but I'm hopeful.

If anyone has ideas I'm all ears.

I've looked at:
The drive shaft, the exhaust to see if it's loose or banging something, the shocks to see if they're loose, the brackets that bolt to the tranny and the engine, all of the front end parts, the cross member, the steering column under the hood. Nothing is binding, loose or in the way. The floorboard isn't rusted so it's not like it cracked and is working itself back and forth.

I can feel it in my feet while I'm driving so I think it's in the driver's side. GRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

Check torsion bars back side under cab! If lowered using bars n not indexed or even indexed it can do this ! C come on guys this is fun ! Diagnosing over the net ! what y'all think?

It's not lowered. It's bone stock as far as the ride height goes. I've seen people talking about indexing the torsion bars. What exactly is that? I remember on my 89 I lowered the front with the torsion bars but this truck was my dad's...he never lowered it or jacked with the torsion bars.

Check your sway bar bushings... where it mounts to the frame.

Bushings look good. It's right under the driver's side floor pan...It's got to be the torsion bar. What part of it would click?

Unless something like your shock bushings or shock is worn,or motor mount is cracked, ball joints upper or lower? Not saying that the torsion bars are creaking and need lubricating but, never had mine make racket ever in 25yrs.

I just put new shocks and ball joints on it. I'll check the motor mount. I have considered that but didn't take a good look at it. I know I tightened my shocks up pretty well but maybe another torque would be in order. Thanks for the ideas!

I think I found it...went out to look into the noise and from bouncing the front of the truck up and down I could hear the nasty little click. I stood by the LF tire and felt the shock...and I could FEEL the noise too...so I tightened the top and bottom bolts on the shock...still did it. Removed the shock and bounced it up and down again...no click! Took the shock to Oriley and the clerk pushed the shock in and out a few times and he told me it was messed up inside...could feel it hanging up...so they gave me a new shock under warranty. I'll have a chance to slap it on in the morning. I'll post back and let everyone know what it was.

I replaced the shock and drove 30 miles to work today. I'll cautiously say it's fixed.
