I am happy to report my engine ticking is gone. I did the solid lifter swap today and it's as quiet as can be. I think I made the whole project harder than it had to be...as I usually do but it's gone! I highly recommend doing the solid lifter swap. No on to those squeaking brakes!

Wood - can you please supply a complete parts list for this, as it's still fresh in your mind? There's a few B2000 engines available to me to "raid" if I think it's worthwhile. I did not add new lifters in my 2011 rebuild; in fact, down in Bisbee on vacation a few weeks ago, a stranger walked up and said "your valves are ticking" !!!

OK, new valve cover gasket
B2000 rocker arms
do I need the B2000 camshaft?

Please supply a complete list, or I'll need to bother Axel Breaker Earl !!!

Cuss...
The other gasket you need is the one that goes on the front of the head behind the housing the dizzy goes into. That cost me $25 from the dealer. I have a pattern for it I can send to you if you want to get gasket material and make one. I put some permatex under the front and rear rocker caps. You use the b2000 cam and use the rocker rails from the b2200. That's about it. Make sure you reset the lifters after you let the engine warm up. Makes a big difference. The gap will be bigger once it warms up so you have to reset.

Cuss, I think you can get a head gasket kit on ebay for around $30. That kit includes a valve cover gasket AND that gasket I mentioned above.

So the list...

Valve cover gasket
B2000 rockers
B2000 cam
permatex for the end caps
that odd shaped gasket that goes on the front of the head
cam seal (optional)
Use your cam caps off the B2200, not the ones off the B2000 donor head.
There's a lot of different opinions on the gap. I set mine to .12. It sounded complicated but it's not.

I think that's it. Parts-wise, not too bad. I tend to take way more time on things so it took me about 3 hours. Drain some radiator fluid before you start, using the drain at the bottom of your radiator. Otherwise you'll get the gush when you take the timing belt rear cover off the head. I originally THOUGHT I could do it without taking that cover off but its not possible because the cam has a ring on it to hold it in place so you cant just lift it out. You'll see what I mean when you do it. If you want that pattern for the front gasket I can scan it & email it to you. For that matter if anyone wants it, PM me & I''ll email it to you.

I highly recommend the swap. That ticking drove me nuts!

Hit me up if you have any questions.

Jeff
