I was a little leery about taking the B on that long of a trip but it did just fine all the way. No issues whatsoever. It's nice to have a reliable truck that's 24 years old.

I've been on so many long trips in my B, I don't worry at all. I do LA to Frisco Bay around four times a year. No issues yet.

Mrs. Cusser and I took the '88 Cab Plus on vacation in early October, also did about 600 miles, no issues. I told folks here and on MazdaTrucking.com that I was taking the B2200 on vacation, so I made it a point to take photos of it in front of historic or scenic locations, and started a new thread. see " target="_blank" target="_blank

Check oil level, coolant level, brake fluid level, maybe power steering fluid level before you depart. Also check tire pressures. Glance at your temperature gauge every at least once every 10 minutes.

I do all of the above for a trip out of town.

I think I watched my temp gauge more than I looked at the road! HAHA!

Love the pics. Your B looks nice. Not too many are in as good of condition as yours.

I got brave a couple of weeks ago and took the ol' girl on a 200 mile trip. Not nearly as long as your 600 miler...but still farther than I ever thought I would go in it. 27 years old and she did fine the whole way. I did program the GPS to avoid highways where possible though.

Thanks. Some reasons:
1. No rust out here in Arizona
2. It shares my garage with my 1971 VW Convertible
3. I've owned it since Aug. 1994 and have covered its dash if I have to leave it in the sun over an hour, and always try to park in a shady place even if it means walking three times as far. I had the front buckets re-upholstered about 1995, still have held up pretty well.
4. I don't eat in my truck, or allow others either.
5. The roof and front hood were faded when I got it, my friend used four cans from a local auto paint shop to repaint those two areas. Of course, over time, the Arizona sun has faded those areas some.
