not sure if there is a write up/walk through of how to do the drum brakes, cuz i cant find it. if there is, could sommeone post a link to the thread? i replaced the shoes and had the drums resurfaced, i didnt get a hardware kit as all the springs and clips looked in good condition. mmy main question is where do the emergency brake cables hook to? i had an e brake before i did the brakes(although very weak, it was still functional). now there is absolutely no resistance when i pull the lever. this was my first shot at drumm brakes as all of my other cars had disc brakes or the drums on it were fine. i would look more into it myself but im on my phone and its a pain in the ass trying to find anything.

if everything is hooked up correctly the shoes probally just need to be adjusted up to the shoes.

Did you swap over the parking brake operating lever onto the new brake shoes, and attach the handbrake cable to it?

to be honest, i have no idea. as far as i can tell everything is hooked up, nothing is hanging or out of place from what i can tell. like i said, this was my first go at drums.. ill try and adjust them again tomorrow. it just confused me cuz i figured there should at least be SOME kind of resistance with the e brake lever. starting to think it'd be less of a hassle in the long run to convert to disc brakes. at least i know how to maintain them. lol.

instead of typing 300 words on a forum board cause its too hard to search on your phone, try looking on youtube. "drum brake adjustment", "drum brake service". Three words

no one here watched you replace these brakes, so we can not help you fix it, only make random suggestions.

a picture might even get good help, but thats much harder than searching.

not trying to be a dick, just trying to help

just to be specific so it doesnt take multiple posts. but good idea.

I just posted this Saturday on "another" board. I wasn't aware that there was no manual adjustment done, that's just a routine part of brake shoe R&R.
" target="_blank

To tighten up the rear brake shoes manually, jack up the rear, get the wheels 1/2 inch off the ground. I admit, I didn't use jack stands for this, but have a big floor jack and left the wheels on for safety (it was cold outside and in the garage !!!). On each side, pull off the oval rubber cap. Stick in a screwdriver, move it to the forward side of the oval, and pull down on the screwdriver handle to lever-action the little adjustment wheel up. You can hear and feel it click. Keep spinning the tire as you do this, you'll soon feel some drag from the adjustment. Make even on both sides. If you go a little too tight, they will soon wear to be just fine.

Typically rear brakes will last twice as long as front brakes, which do the brunt of the stopping effort, why lots of vehicles had disc in front and drum in rear.

well. i feel quite stupid. finally got around to tearing the drums apart again today, turns out in my rush to get nack on the road i put the adjusters on backwards. plus the e-brake cable wasnt hooked up properly on the driver side. everythings working great now, after an adjustment and new master cylinder.
