I seem to remember that a few years back someone on here showed how to build a simple Buzzer that went off when u shut the engine off with lights still on. I made one,it worked great until this week. Now I need the instructions so I can troubleshoot and see what went wrong. At the same time the buzzer failed the dash lights went out so I suspect they are somehow connected.Anybody? Thanks mucho.bj

It might be your dash dimmer gone bad. You can remove the switch and test it with a volt meter (set to continuity) and turn the wheel to see if you can turn it on and off.

To take off the bezel you only have to remove the 4 screws under the top and bottom lips.

Your dash lights could be off because of a bad dimmer wheel switch.

Or: your dash/cluster lights, the tail lights, and the parking lights are all on the same circuit. If those are out, check the 10 amp fuse labeled "TAIL".

I think your two issues are definitely related.

Others: you can buy such a warning switch commercially. Search Lite Minder on Google. I've used these in my B2200 and in my '71 VW for decades (the one in my B2200 I transferred from my '79 Toyota truck).

Thanks gentlemen.Fuses are all ok. I seem to remember when I built the buzzer it was connected to the dimmer wheel so I suspect that may be the culprit. They are notorious for going bad and I have a couple of spares so I think I will replace the wheel before I try and build a new buzzer. Thanks again and glad to see the site is still here and "buzzing" along.Lol.bj
