ok so i just bought a 1986 mazda b2000 and i was told by the owner that the carrier bearing was trashed. so i go to autozone and buy a carrier bearing. well its just the bearing not the boot. so i drop the drive shaft and pull the boot off. well in all the videos i have seen online the carrier bearing stays on the drive shaft and the rubber comes off. well this one the bearing slid right off the driveshaft in the boot. wtf right. so i have no clue how to get the bearing out of the boot. new to the mazda seen and the haynes manual says nothing on this. can anyone help?

Whoa that is mess. Now I have only replaced my cb as a whole unit!Normally the rubber mount is what goes bad(wear) not the bearing. If it were me,I would take the bearing back, and buy a full center bearing part with the mounts etc.I bought mine from mazda yrssss ago.I guess napa should have this,if the zone does not.Unless someone else has a better recommend that is def the route I would go with.I may repost with some links later. This part routinely wears out,and most just go entire new part.Ok

" target="_blank" target="_blank This is what you want.Autozone does not carry this, and even tho when I searched it showed the whole assembly. However they just do the bearing. With a truck this old replacing the entire part would be a better idea in the long run.Even if the rubber looks good,it can create alot of vibration, and do more damage to the u joints and or rear end.You may want to shop around for price like rockauto etc.Napa is not so cheap on things sometimes.

yea i had that same issue and i think to even put a new bearing on u gotta take the shaft apart anyways (i think) so mite as well do u joints too. i didnt have the tools for that so i just got a hole new dhaft and the bearing came with it.
