Can anyone tell me by color what wires go to what on the ignition switch? My switch busted and I'm attempting to hook everything up to toggle switches and a push button start. Just untill I get a new switch.

Black wire (B) - Positive voltage to the switch
Black/yellow (BY) - wire to the starter motor circuit
Black/white (BW) - wire to the "run" circuit

I guess I should have stated its a 89 2200 5spd.

Above info is from 1988 B2200 service manual, should be same.

I've figured most of it out, its not the same as listed.

Good. Remember - I didn't write the service manual. I've also seen a few wires in the wiring section that the colors were screwed up for, so I typically also don't trust it, and figure out with my test light or multi-meter.

Sorry - I didn't bother to pull out from my parts box the spare, and check that one out for you. But should be easy with it disconnected to find the "hot wire", then one of the other big ones should turn on stuff like the dashboard lights, and the other bigger wire should engage the starter.

I have been wondering how to use switches and a push start rather than the ignition key for a while do you have any pics of how you did this and how it worked out?
